This week the president directed the U.S. Treasury to modernize payment systems to utilize the Federal Reserve’s FedNow instant payment rail and sunset written checks sent from the U.S. Treasury. This effort has been years in the making and is a significant step forward to reduce fraud and more quickly place funds into the hands of the intended person.
